Ann Romney has been diagnosed with ductal carcinoma in situ, and undergone a lumpectomy at a hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. Ann Romney is the wife of former Massachusetts governor and presidential candidate Mitt Romney. “While this is commonly referred to as early stage breast cancer, it is technically not cancer but rather pre-cancer, as it has not become invasive,” Ann Romney said in her statement to the media. Mrs. Romney said that her cancer was found during her annual mammogram, and that it is an early catch. "As in all cases of cancer, early detection is critical," she said. "Many families are facing medical hardships - our hearts go out to all of you and also our wishes for healing holidays.”
