Breast Cancer Support Groups: Beneficial or Controversial?

If you've just been diagnosed with breast cancer, or are in the midst of treatment, you are not alone. Going to the doctor appointments, lab tests, radiology sessions, and keeping your family life and job going is quite a juggle. Along comes a well-meaning friend who suggests that you join a breast cancer support group. How do you decide if a support group is for you? Will a support group be beneficial or just a waste of time? Research has been done on the benefits of two kinds of support: personal meetings with structure and guidance from health professionals, and online support groups.
