Peggy Fleming Survives and Thrives After Breast Cancer

Saturday February 10, 2007
"Cancer doesn't care who you are or how well you take care of yourself," said Peggy Fleming, Olympic Gold Medallist figure skater. "It just happens." Ms. Fleming recently spoke about her experience with breast cancer at a Surviving and Thriving luncheon. She remembered the shock of getting her diagnosis, made worse since her identity was so grounded in her athletic ability and good health. Her book ,"The Long Program: Skating Toward Life's Victories" is her autobiography and includes her early life, her figure skating career, and her battle with breast cancer. Peggy Fleming is an eight-year breast cancer survivor.
