Artist Heidi Marble Survives Inflammatory Breast Cancer

Tuesday January 16, 2007
Heidi Marble didn't feel a lump, but she felt ill. "By the time I was finally diagnosed, my whole breast was engorged with cancer," she said. "It was red, it was swollen, it was hard. And I was dying." She was just 34, and was given 18 months to live. Inflammatory breast cancer (IBC) is the most agressive and most stealthy form of breast cancer. It resides in the breast in nests, or sheets. Six years later, with treatments and both breasts removed, Marble is free of breast cancer. She has written a book and created art to raise awareness of IBC, and money that is raised from her book sales will go to provide services for cancer patients.
