Good Fats, Bad Fats, and Breast Cancer Risk
Monday November 27, 2006
A new study that followed postmenopausal women for 20 years (1980 - 2000) found that dietary fat does not add significant risk for development of breast cancer. Specific fats were not a factor in raising the risk of breast cancer, but the size of waist was a factor for decreased risk. Some healthy fats (omega-3 and unsaturated fats) promote breast health, and help to lower risk. The study was published by Dr. Esther H. J. Kim in the American Journal of Epidemiology.
