Kids are pretty smart and observant. If you're sick, they know. Being honest is a good thing, but telling them you have breast cancer just isn't easy. They might not understand, if they are very young - or they might get very upset, if they are older and know anyone else who has been diagnosed and treated for breast cancer. How do you tell them about your prognosis and what to expect during treatment? How do you reassure them about your outcome? If you've been down this road, share your tips for talking to your kids about breast cancer. Share Your Tips

Keep a Positive Attitude

When I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer, telling my two teenagers was one of the most difficult parts. My approach was to maintain a positive attitude and present the best case scenario. We also use humour a lot in my family to help us cope. My teens even help me with my blog www.perksofcancer.com. I don't know if I will live another year, or another 40 years, but I want my kids to remember this part of my life as one that I tackled with optimism, hope and joy. Florence (a.k.a.
