The greatest decline in new breast cancer cases in the US occurred in 2003, and appears to be in response to a 50% drop in hormone replacement therapy (HRT) use. New cases of breast cancer fell by 7% overall, and fell by 12% for women over 50 years old, the group most likely to use HRT.
