Definition: A radiologist is a medical doctor who specializes in the reading and interpretation of X-rays and other medical images. Many years of training are required to be able to diagnose the presence of tumors and other abnormalities with a low rate of errors.
Although radiologists formerly treated patients with X-rays as well, radiation therapy is now performed by radiation oncologists.

A radiologist is the expert who studies a mammogram to decide whether there are any abnormalities that should be investigated with further diagnostic tests such as ultrasound imaging or a biopsy.
