Definition: A broad, triangular flat muscle on your back. It is connected to bones in your spine, shoulder and arms. You have a total of two latissimus dorsi muscles, one on either side of your spine.
Pronunciation: la-TIS-si-mus DOR-si
Also Known As: lats, musculus latissimus dorsi
Examples:
The latissimus dorsi is moved, along with attached skin, during the lat-flap breast reconstruction procedure.
