Many of us learn by watching a demonstration, some us learn by reading, and some of us are starting to learn by tapping on little screens and clicking on icons. Well, if you're wondering how to remember all the steps to your monthly breast self-exam (BSE) and you've got an iPad, iPod touch, or a snazzy iPhone, then tune in right here. I got lucky (or maybe I hinted around enough) and was given an iPad this last Christmas. The iTunes App Store is mind-boggling - at least for me - so I've been sorting through many free apps and experimenting with books, games, and health info.
There are at least 7 free apps that you can use to learn how to do your breast self-exam, and many of them will let you set up a reminder. These apps vary in the amount of detail you get and the way they present the steps to a BSE. One of them provides anatomically correct animations, and most give you the basics about breast lumps and breast cancer.
