Amy Mickelson is just 37 years old, has been diagnosed with breast cancer and will soon undergo surgery. The former Phoenix Suns cheerleader has 3 small children, and is married to professional golfer Phil Mickelson. One of the most visible pro golfing wives, she may not be seen on the course until her husband resumes his PGA Tour. Phil Mickelson has back-burnered his career in the PGA until Amy has completed the majority of her breast cancer treatments and is starting recovery. Mickelson will give up his spot in this week's Byron Nelson Championship in Irving, Tex., and next week's Crown Plaza Invitational in Fort Worth, as well as the U.S. Open at Bethpage, four weeks from now. The Mickelsons are considered a close family, and have been married since 1996. Her exact breast cancer diagnosis and type of surgery was not made public. But as a young woman, she may have concerns about treatment's effect on her fertility and her children's reaction to the news.

Its a must read.

Phil, I’ve always enjoyed watching you on the pga tour, and wish you continued success when you return.
