This year I attended the 31st annual San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium. I was struck by the international gathering, and the variety of faces and languages all around me. People from Asia, Europe, South America, the United Kingdom, and United States attended this meeting to learn and exchange ideas. Over 650 research papers were presented, and about 100 exhibitors were set up offering information on the current state of treatment and science of breast cancer. New techniques in surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, genetic screening, and patient support were shown and discussed. In the days to come, I'll be filling you in on some of the things I learned.
