We like brown bread at my house. It tastes good and has a texture that will stand up to many different sandwich fillings, or a layer of marmalade. While working on this series of anticancer foods, I learned that brown bread isn't always whole grain bread - it may be enriched or just whole wheat. Whole grains deliver the whole benefit from all three layers of each grain kernel. Just another reason to read the food labels carefully! Nowadays, we stick to brown rice, wholewheat flour, and fun whole grains like popcorn. I even get the whole grain pasta - which is more filling as well as beneficial.
