Gail Konop Baker has worked in advertising, stand-up comedy, waitressing, high school teaching, and journalism. In October 2006, she started writing a column called "Bare-breasted Mama" for LiteraryMama.com. Two years later, her book "Cancer is a Bitch: Or, I'd Rather Be Having A Midlife Crisis" is being published by Da Capo Press. A quick visit to her website reveals a smart woman who has obviously been writing for a long time, and writing well. This book is her story of surviving breast cancer. She writes: "In my early forties, after the kids were finally in school, and the short story publications and awards started rolling in, my right boob turned on me. Seven biopsies in five years, the last one ductal carcinoma in situ." I've read several of her online columns and expect her book will be hard to put down. It's on my Must-Read-This List.
