Completing Hormone Therapy

Saturday March 8, 2008
This morning I took my final Aromasin, the last of my follow-up hormone therapy for estrogen-positive breast cancer. I had started on Tamoxifen, but developed some endometrial thickening after two years, so after talking with my oncologist, Aromasin was the pill of the day for my next three years. Both pills caused hot flashes, but I'd have to say that the Tamoxifen flashes were the worst. So, having experienced chemopause, I'm officially in menopause, and eager to see what life is like without hormone therapy!
Hot flashes, surgery scars, nausea and vomiting, skin burns, hand and foot syndrome - some of the side effects of treatment for breast cancer. How do you handle these things? Sound off on your coping strategies!
