World Cancer Day - Eliminate Smoking
Monday February 4, 2008
February 4, 2008 is World Cancer Day, when 56 countries around the world will launch a campaign to raise public awareness about health risks of second-hand smoke and children's health. Spearheaded by the International Union Against Cancer (UICC), their top message is: "There is no safe level of exposure to second-hand smoke." The primary goal is to create smoke-free environments for children worldwide, to protect the present and future health of our children (and ourselves). UICC is joining with cancer organizations and drug companies around the world to get out the word about second-hand smoke and health risks. Events will be held in participating countries this year and annually through 2010. You can help by not smoking near children or expectant mothers, which lowers their risk of cancer, and reduces your risk of lung and breast cancer.

Comments
Yes please, do help to get the word out about all the dangers of smoking and second hand smoke. There still seems to be a lack of knowledge among some members of society about the risks.
