Celebrating the Holidays Beyond and Despite Breast Cancer
Monday December 24, 2007
"Good Morning America's" Robin Roberts, "Today's" anchor Hoda Kotb, NBC’s Anne Thompson, WCVB-TV reporter Kelley Tuthill - and many other women in the media have been dealing with breast cancer this year. “For me, Christmas is all year long,” said Tuthill, who was diagnosed just before Christmas last year. Tuthill has two small daughters and wants to be able to spend “many, many, many more Christmases with my kids.” Robin Roberts, who is almost finished with chemo, writes that she is taking the rest of the year off, writes "I'm doing well and looking forward to spending this time with my family and loved ones."
Having breast cancer, or being in recovery or survival mode, can affect your feelings during the holidays. Take time to celebrate with friends, family, and other survivors. Don't let the disease define you or take over your emotions. You are so much more than a diagnosis! Continue the fight, raise awareness, educate yourself, and focus on health.
