National Bust Out Week Korey Howell, Photo |
It started innocently, and wound up in pink bathrobes. Friends in Austin, Texas just wanted tickets to the Oprah show, so they formed a group and picked the name FOO (Friends Of Oprah). Since they noticed that fewer women were having
annual mammograms, they chose that as their cause. Many women avoid their annual mammogram, because of the pain of compression. The FOOs have a solution: instead of just a mammogram, have a Glamour-Gram! Women are encouraged to take their best friend, a sister, their mom for a fun day at a salon getting “glammed up” and then going together for a test most women dread. The FOOs haven't made it Oprah yet, but they did appear on FOX & Friends, in the American Cancer Society Newsletter, and in local Austin newspapers.
