Breast Ultrasound Exam - What to Expect

An ultrasound exam can be useful if you've had a mammogram or clinical breast exam that gave unclear results. Ultrasound is painless and uses no radiation, and can image dense breast tissue very clearly. Sound waves are used to echo off of structures within your breast that are either fluid-filled or solid. You can usually watch the images being taken, as women who have pregnancy ultrasound often do. Here's what to expect and how to prepare for your breast ultrasound.
