Aromasin and Herceptin Prove Their Worth
Tuesday June 26, 2007
Two studies on adjuvant hormone therapies, used as follow-up treatment for estrogen-receptor positive breast cancer, have shown that Aromasin and Herceptin extend life and save costs over time. American and Canadian researchers took data from the Intergroup Exemestane Study (IES) and found that the cost-effectiveness over 7.5 years was less than expected, when adjusted for quantity and quality of life gained. Tamoxifen, Aromasin, and Herceptin are commonly used for five years after primary treatment for estrogen-receptor positive breast cancer has been completed.
