Molly Ivins in Hospital for Breast Cancer

Tuesday January 30, 2007
Ivins, 62, has been admitted to the hospital for treatment of inflammatory breast cancer (IBC). The syndicated columnist and liberal newspaper editor has slowed down somewhat in her columns against President Bush's plans for a troop surge in Iraq. Although Molly ivins vowed to spend as much time as possible fighting Bush's policy in the war in the middle east, she may have to focus her energy on the battle for her own life. Her assistant, Betsy Moon said, "We're not sure what's going to happen, but she's very sick." Ms. Ivins was first diagnosed with IBC in 1999, and was treated, with recurrences in 2003 and 2005. She was in chemotherapy for the disease in March 2006.
