Coach Yow Shoots for Breast Cancer Victory

Monday January 22, 2007
Basketball coach Kay Yow is shooting for a victory in a match with breast cancer. Yow has already endured 2 surgeries, radiation, dietary and nutritional changes, and has started strong chemotherapy. She continues to coach, and has started Hoops for Hope, at North Carolina State University. Coach Yow says, "If you don't have hope, you don't really have anything. You have to maintain your hope." She leans on her religious faith during the battle. "I have a chance to be an encouragement to a lot of other people," she said. "That's what I want to do. I've been blessed by God to give me strength and a good mind-set and attitude."
