Fat Reduction of Little Benefit for Hormone-Fueled Breast Cancer
A follow-up to a study published in 2005 on low-faw diets and breast cancer prevention concludes that the diet improves survival and prevents recurrence for patients who had estrogen-receptor negative tumors. Patients who had estrogen-fueled tumors did experience some benefit from cutting fat from their daily intake, but the survival rates were not significantly different from those who did not reduce dietary fat. "Excess calories, be they fat or otherwise, are associated with cancer risk," said Dr. John Milner of the National Cancer Institute. Updated results from a long-term study were given at the annual San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium.- Cutting fat can't stop hormone-fueled cancer
