Researchers have taken surveys along the U.S and Mexico border and have noticed a trend in Latinas who develop breast cancer. Latinas tend to develop the disease an average of 10 years before their Anglo counterparts. To properly study this trend, the Avon Foundation will give $1 million to University of Arizona, M.D. Anderson Center in Houston. and three Mexican universities. Maria Elena Martinez, co-director of cancer prevention and control at the Arizona Cancer Center said, "The real issue is — what is causing this? There really are no working theories about these difference."
