Friday November 17, 2006
Dr. Larissa Korde at the National Cancer Institute has published the results of a study which suggests that women who used a soy-based diet (tofu, miso) when they were small children had a 58% lower risk of breast cancer. "Childhood soy intake was significantly associated with reduced breast cancer risk in our study, suggesting that the timing of soy intake may be especially critical," said Korde.
Megan Phillips at the Harvard School of Public Health reported that a diet rich in fish which contain omega-3 fatty acids, COX-2 inhibitors. COX-2 can reduce inflammation, which may be linked to cancerous tumor growth. Diet is one of many risk factors for breast cancer, which is under your control.
