Web-based Tool to Predict Breast Cancer Recurrence

Monday November 6, 2006
Mona Sanghani, an oncology researcher from Tufts-New England Medical Center in Boston, has announced the development of a web-based tool which helps doctors predict the return of breast cancer. The tool is aimed at women who have had a lumpectomy. These patients may need to consider whether to have additional treatment, such as radiation, chemotherapy, and hormone therapy; in order to lower the risk of breast cancer returning. Dr. Sanghani's tool will be tested with clinical data, before it can be widely used.
