Women Over 65 Should Have Equal Options for Breast Cancer Treatment

If you are a women over 65 and have been diagnosed with breast cancer, you are among 50% of all new breast cancer patients per year. However, according to Jeanne Mandelblatt, of Georgetown University’s Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, you may not be offered the same treatment options that women under 65 are given. The editorial, which appears in Journal of Clinical Oncology, says that; “Older women who perceive more ageism in their interaction with providers are less likely to receive radiation or chemotherapy.”
