Marianne Faithfull Diagnosed with Breast Cancer

Marianne Faithfull, at age 59, has been diagnosed with early stage breast cancer. Faithfull, a vocal artist and actress, has canceled her world tour, which was to begin in October 2006. "Next year's tour, I want to assure fans, will be one big celebration,'' said the British singer. Her first hit song, "As Tears Go By" was written by Rolling Stones members Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. Marianne Faithfull also had a long association with Mick Jagger in the Swinging 60's.
