Sheryl Crow Fights Breast Cancer

Thursday March 9, 2006
Pop star Sheryl Crow, former fiancée of Lance Armstrong, 7-time Tour de France champion and himself a cancer survivor, had successful minor surgery for breast cancer just two weeks after her 44th birthday. Her doctors say that her prognosis is excellent. She will receive radiation treatment as a precaution against cancer recurrence.

Her North American tour, which was scheduled for March and April, has been cancelled, to allow for time in treatment and recovery. In a February 24th press release, Crow said, “ I am joining the more than 200,000 women who will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. We are a testament to the importance of early detection and new treatments. I encourage all women everywhere to advocate for themselves and for their future – see your doctor and be proactive about your health.”

I’m very glad that women like Sheryl Crow share their experiences with other women and advice. I am a breast cancer survivor for almost 10 years now. My experience was way on the other scope from hers. I’m glad that most women dont have to experience the atrocities of some treatment and aftermaths. I personally have spread my message to as many women as i can. Breast cancer is painful, Radiologists are just looking for abnormalities, I went in because of a self exam and was criticized for not knowing what I was doing, 14 months later it took up half of my chest, Women with breast cancer history only make up 2% the rest being 98% of wich they do not know why they get it, Tomoxifin is not a new drug nor a revelation that only helps women with history, Why would you want to put toxins in your body when women with history only make up 2% of all that have it?

I dont have all the answers but I do think that we should do the research.

My experience with breast cancer includes a 5×8 tumor taking up the left side of my chest because of misdiagnosis. 6 rounds of chemo to reduce the rumor, Double mastectomy, radical on the left. 33 rounds of radiation, stem cell transplant, hospice and 9 years of trange diagnoses after that. Please get different opinions. Stay strong and full of hope because God will be with you every step of the way plus all cancer survivors. If you dont like your dr get another one until someone listens to YOU.

God Bless

I find that odd that Sheryl Crow says she has given up eating junk food to keep the cancer from returning! It’s like saying if you eat junk food you are going to get breast cancer. That is so far from the truth! I have always been into healthy eating and exercise and I got breast cancer!
